Newborn Care: Feeding, Growth and Warning Signs
The first weeks with a newborn involve frequent feeding, sleep changes and many questions. Regular well-baby visits help monitor weight, feeding, jaundice, activity and age-appropriate development while giving parents a reliable place to discuss concerns.
Feed the baby according to medical and feeding guidance, keep the cord area clean and dry, and place the baby on the back for sleep on a firm, clear surface. Hand hygiene and limiting contact with unwell visitors can also reduce infection risk.
Contact a doctor urgently if a newborn has fever, difficulty breathing, blue colour, repeated vomiting, poor feeding, unusual sleepiness, seizures or worsening jaundice. Early assessment is particularly important because newborn symptoms can change quickly.
